Gwalior station now on air with NexGen
Mumbai -- 16 October, 2007– After having gone on air in March of this year and in doing so becoming Gwalior's first commercial radio station, Radio Chaska recently introduced NexGen as studio system into its operation.
Promoted by the popular Meet Brothers, Manmeet and Harmeet Gulzar, Radio Chaska is run in partnership with Tarun Goyal who also serves as General Manager of the station. In a recent interview with India Radio Bulletin, Manmeet Gulzar describes the intentions: "It is not only the best equipments that are required, but delivering the best solution is important in setting up a radio station."
The installation of the new digitial studio system and the training of the staff in the North Indian city were conducted by RCS India, with Sridhar Ala, Manager of Technical Operations at RCS, managing the project on site.
Asked what made the situation at Radio Chaska unusual, he says: “The client approached us indicating that their previous technical solution did not meet the demands of a modern radio station in a competitive environment. This presented us with the challenge of replacing a third-party system without disrupting the on-air presence of the radio station. At the same time, we were given the task of preserving as much of the existing hardware and infrastructure as possible, as these investments had only been made recently. I think with installing NexGen we accomplished both."
Sridhar Ala is a seasoned technical pro in the broadcast industry, having joined RCS initially in 2002. Since then he has had various responsibilities in the context of RCS India, held the position of Operations Manager at World Space for two years, and recently moved into the position of Manager of Technical Operations at RCS India in Mumbai.
Says RCS General Manager Karl Kessler: "We are seeing an increasing demand in the radio and broadcast industry here for high quality technical installations and expertise. Rather than having to depend on specialists and consultants from abroad which usually is associated with high costs and longer response times, we decided to strengthen our competence in India. Sridhar brings high technical expertise and experience to our team, and this helps us to serve our clients here even better and faster."
